Dear friends,

We are beside ourselves with gratitude to the Goldhirsh Foundation for awarding People for Parks with a ‘MyLA2050 - LA is the Best Place to Play’ grant and to the many of you who voted to put us among the top ten applicants. We know that the decision must have been difficult, given the large number of outstanding proposals. Seeing all that dedication to making LA the Best Place to Play has been humbling and inspiring.

With this help from LA2050, thousands of children and their families in low-income and under-resourced areas of Los Angeles, such as Koreatown, Pico-Union, and South LA, will benefit as People for Parks begins opening Community School Parks in their neighborhoods. We cannot wait to get to work putting these funds to use not just by opening these parks for communities to enjoy, but also by empowering parents, school staff and community members to become actively involved in park management. We know in doing so we can ensure that these play spaces thrive, making LA the Best Place to Play for generations.
